No. You can book an appointment directly without a referral.
Some clients are referred by their GP, school, support coordinator, or another health professional, but this is not required.
You're welcome to contact Fiona directly to book an appointment, arrange a free 15-minute enquiry call, or book online. Whether you're seeking counselling as an adult, adolescent, couple, or NDIS participant, you can get started at any time without needing a GP referral or Mental Health Care Plan.
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We'll discuss what has brought you to counselling, what you'd like support with, and any goals you may have. There is no pressure to share everything at once, and you are welcome to move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Current fees are listed on the Fees page of this website.
Payment is required on the day of your appointment unless other arrangements have been made.
For telehealth appointments, payment can be made via a stored credit card for convenience, or an invoice can be emailed and paid on the day of your session.
As a Clinical Counsellor, I do not provide services that attract Medicare rebates.
To access Medicare rebates for mental health treatment, you would need to see your GP for a mental health assessment. If appropriate, they may prepare a Mental Health Care Plan and refer you to a Medicare-registered psychologist, social worker, or occupational therapist.
It's also important to note that Medicare does not provide rebates for couples counselling, even when a Mental Health Care Plan is in place.
If you're unsure whether counselling with me is the right fit for your needs, you're welcome to book a free 15-minute enquiry call to discuss your options.
Private Health Funds
A growing number of private health insurers offer rebates for counselling services. Eligibility depends on your level of cover and your insurer's requirements.
For information about the private health funds currently accepted, please visit the Fees page or contact your insurer directly to confirm your eligibility for rebates.
Yes. I work with self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants where counselling aligns with their goals and supports their wellbeing.
Before counselling begins, a service agreement will need to be completed and signed. This is usually provided to both the participant and their plan manager (if applicable).
More information is available on the NDIS Participants page.
ROOM TO BE is located in a heritage building and unfortunately is not wheelchair accessible.
Entry to the building involves three stairs at the front. The toilets are located on upper levels and require walking up two flights of stairs. The lift is small and not suitable for wheelchair access.
Telehealth sessions are available as an alternative for clients who are unable to access the physical space or who prefer online counselling.
If you have specific access needs, you’re welcome to contact me before your appointment so we can discuss the best option for you.
Yes. Limited evening and Saturday appointments are available on selected days.

Using the Gottman Method for Couples Counselling, each partner will have one individual session as part of the initial assessment process. These sessions are part of the couples counselling work and are not intended as individual therapy.
The purpose and boundaries of these sessions will be discussed openly so that both partners understand how information is used and managed within the counselling process.
If you or your partner are already seeing a therapist for individual counselling, you would not see the same therapist for couples counselling.
